The country can be easily described in three words: mountains, steaks, and Malbec. It is widely considered a perfect match.

At the same time, Argentine Malbec has long moved past the 'everyday wine' category. If you still remember it as a heavy, flat wine with mouth-drying tannins, it is high time to give it another try. Ideally, look beyond Mendoza as a whole and seek out bottles from the Uco Valley (Valle de Uco), where the style becomes more refined, fresh, and elegant.

Don’t overlook Bonarda, another local gastronomic star. While it might lack the depth and complexity of a fine Malbec, its lively acidity and juiciness make it an ideal pairing for a premium, well-marbled ribeye steak.
